cut the crap and jessi are both wrong.

neoliberal is a political term going back a long way and it means someone who is in favor of lowering taxes for big business and breaking down trade barriers, while leaving people's wages, prices of products, etc., to be decided by market forces.

neoconservatives are politicians who are neoliberal economically but conservative socially, fighting for big business like any neoliberal but also for christian values, even if they're kind of forced, and for strict policies on things like civil rights, imprisonment, and as we've seen in the current administration, domestic spying.

liberal and neoliberal are not the same, and there are a lot of people on this forum referring to liberals as "neoliberals" because they think they're smart and don't realize that Ronald Reagan was a pioneer in the neoliberal movement.

edit: jesi is right that neocons are conservatives minus the fiscal responsibility, but she is wrong about neoliberals. they are not socialist by any means.

NeoCon is a radical right wing conservative, who may or may not be fundamentalist in outlook. Neo cons are far more fiscally and socially conservative than most.

Neo Liberals are people on the extreme radical left in fiscal and philosophical and social matters. They are no more representative of those who are mid stream liberals than the neo cons are the main stream conservatives, despite what each will tell you.

Most people , despite Bill O'Reilly's assertions to the contrary generally sit in the middle of their philosophical, political, financial and social belief systems. They are more moderate and more mainstream, what was once known as the silent majority.

Well, to start, a neocon is a neoconservative, a name that was given to distinguish ultra-conservative, modern day "new age" conservatives from more moderate traditional conservatives. Neocons want government to impose strict moral standards on behavior, and also want the US to take strong positions in world politics. This means invading countries if needed. Thus the recent attack on Iraq. You will hear critics argue that neocons want US world domination.

Neolib is a recent made up name that has been reinvented by neocons as sort of a retaliation against liberals. It is meant to mean neoliberals. Actually, neoliberalism existed decades ago and was associated with Ronald Reagan of all people. It traditionally has been used to describe moderate democrats but is now used as a slander against liberals who criticize neocons.

Neocons are almost always conservative Republicans and people who fully support GW Bush and his Iraq war.

Neolibs (if the term sticks) are almost always liberal Democrats who oppose Bush and his war on Iraq.

Honestly, I have no idea what a NeoLib is.

NeoCon is a term that was coined to describe Democrats which defected to the Republican Party during the Reagan years and subsequent conservative revolution. This term is often misused to describe all Conservatives.
