What are your opinions on the field of Massage Therapy?

Massage Therapy and Physical Therapy allowed my shoulder to heal without surgery. Trained professionals in this type therapy are underused. As a relaxing tool in the high stressed environment we live in, can also be very beneficial. Stress relief reduced my snoring, eliminated my headaches and sinus congestion which made my wife happy at night.

Massage therapy is a very rewarding field. Too many people have become disconnected from therapeutic touch...they are "touch" deprived. We are too dependent on technology and need this very primal human to human interaction. I'm not talking about anything sexual here...just the connection that comes from touching that goes beyond the verbal interaction that we resort to these days.
Having said all that, you won't get rich being a massage therapist. But if you are looking for something that is very rewarding AND beneficial to your clients, then it is great.

My opinion is that its very existence is one more symptom of how messed up and disconnected our society is. Yes, "massage" can be therapy. Any touch can be therapy. But we humans should be able to get that kind of therapy from spouse or parent. We shouldn't have to pay for it. That so many of us do reveals how little we're willing to put up with other human beings.
