Is anyone else using there spare computing power to help find a cure for cancer?

Question

I'm an active member of a team called MyOnlineTeam, on a project called World Community Grid.

The aim of World Community Grid is to allow PC users to donate their spare processor power to the project, to 'crunch' DNA & protein data collected by research institutes. The results of these tests help scientists work out how a protein develops, and how we can use this information to find cures for diseases such as cancer and malaria.

That's wonderful. I'm not sure how it works, but it almost brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. 

My son has been battling a rare sarcoma for 22 months. We need an answer for his disease . . not just for him, but for the other young people who suffer from this rotten cancer also. Just this past month 5 of these young people have died and 3 have had relapses. It breaks my heart.

Anything that will help . . . thank you, thank you, thank you.

I did go look at the site. I don't think my old computer would be of much use . . but I'll be sure to pass this along.

Thanks for the info spikey_Richie. I am waiting for an xps 410 to ship. Once it arrives I will consider hooking up my old Dimension 8100. I like this idea better than SETA.

i am going on checklist and making this ambitious assertion of pessimism and shortage of religion in the scientific community. "No treatment for any important ailment will ever be got here upon." subsequently it incredibly is been declared.
