If you are going to school, they can put you on their taxes. If your just living at home, they cannot.

If you were a full-time student for some part of at least five months of 2006, then they can claim you as a dependent. If you weren't in school at least that long, then they can't claim you.

If they can claim you, you have to file taxes if you made over $5150 - if you have unearned income in addition to your income from your job, the limit it much lower. If they can't claim you, then you are required to file if your income is over $8450.

Well they can, if they are paying for all your expenses despite the fact that you have a job....call a tax place and ask them., that would be your best bet. Or go to the IRS website and see if they have a Q&A section on there.

  • do you pay rent your share of light water and pg&e ect if your parent pay that for you [are do it for you becase they love you ] then they have the right to clam you as a denpent it not fair for them to get rip by there kid i know this first hand my son live at home we payed for everything and we want to clam him he had a fit and clam him self and left us in the hole for are generosty and then we got smart ask him to leave and it was hard but now he learn a good leson he could not pay for every thing on his own so he came back home with a new under standing on this and money good luck to you

No they don't. That is up to you and them. You should try yo find out what to do though so that the minimum ammt. of taxes are paid though. (And/or to get the maximum ammt. of a refund.

    Whatever works for you all.

As long as they pay at least 50% of your expenses, then yes, they can claim you. They don't HAVE to, but they're much better off financially if they do.

Living expenses include: rent, car, car insurance, gas money, groceries, personal care items, tuition.

If you live with them, chances are they pay at least 50% of your expenses.

if you have a job then no..you can file your own..but if you don't work then yes they can because you are their dependent.
