What to do with my sexually mature male rabbit?
I have a dwarf holland lop who is 3 1/2 pounds. He never has and never will come into contact with a female rabbit. Lately, he has been running around my feet in circles and even humping my hand when I try to pet him. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to help stop this behavior other than neutering him? My vet said she would prefer not to neuter him is he is never going to come into contact with females because of his size. She said the operation could be dangerous for him. DO you think he might like a teddy bear or something?

Find a rabbit knowledgeable vet that does Laser Surgery. This new technology in fixing animals is very safe and reduces the risk on smaller animals, less time/need for anesthesia, quicker recovery time, reduced swelling, and so on. Visit my website for further information on the Spaying/Neutering page for details on this surgery's benefits.
Otherwise, get him a teddy bear that he can take out his "sexual frustrations" on.

we had the same problem with a holland lop. my 4-H leader recommended the teddy bear. Just place a stuff animal (obviously on you dont want) (trust me you will never want it back) in the cage and he will stop. the holland lop we have used to chase my mom around, run around her feet, tried to hump her foot, that sorta thing, now he just goes to town on the bear we put in and it has been almost a year he has went without humping anything other then the teddy bear= also if you are wirried about the saftey of your rabbit (although it rarely happens that one will chew it and choke) you can place a water bottle in also...

well i don't know what can help yea but my rabbit does it to anything and everyone as well and he's a fairly big rabbit. but he's not neutured or anything. if you find a female rabbit and rub the teddy bear on her, her sent will then be on the bear and he might want that instead. my only worry is that he might chew and choke on it. i give my rabbits a brush or a ball instead. somthing they can't choke on.
hope i can help.

i like that idea for a teddy bear it sounds good. lol. we breed rabbits and they stay in a cage so they dont do that but if ur maybe breed him because is you dont breed or neuter him he will have a better chance of cancer. but i like the teddy bear idea. try it!

males are males, there isn't a whole lot you can do. your vet is right tho rabbits are very hard to give anathesia to becuase it is hard to get the dosage right. i have plenty of males, they tend to calm down once they hit 1-2 years old.
