Teacher Certification Test for a different state?

My girlfriend and I are from Texas, we are moving to Colorado next year and I was wondering if anyone knew what she needed to do to be certified to teach in Colorado. She is certified to teach Elementary Education in Texas already.

Does she need to take another exam?

Does she need to meet any other state requirements other than the exam?

Any information is appreciated.

Check out the Colorado Dept of Ed. site. First step: request an application for teaching licensure. The package will contain a lot of different types of apps. 2nd: Find out what states Colorado has teaching licensure reciprocity with. If it has it with texas....just simply apply for the licensure. If it doesn't have reciprocity, apply for the license and they will either give you a temporary license until you fulfill certain requirements (more stupid Praxis tests....I'm in the middle if this process from NC to MN) or even a college course! Hope this helps! Any more questions - contact me!

If you go to thier department of education site it will give you the details. But basically if you have a teaching job you can apply for a temporary license. To get certified you will have to take the tests for that state unless you have a national certification, which is accepted anywhere without having to take the tests for Colorado.
