Okay, for and appetizer, put out a bowl of chips and a bowl of, salsa, queso, or onion dip. For the main course, get a Bobli pizza crust. Spread Ragu pizza sauce all over it and then put cheese on. If you want anything else on it, then just put it on. For desert, make a tropical smoothie with any kinds of fruits, and ice cream. it would also be nice to make a ceaser salad.

You didn't mention who you're cooking for, but a simple dish that I enjoy making that also seems to be a hit is Pork Chops and Macaroni and Cheese. Recipe as follows:

4 thin bone-in pork chops seasoned liberally with fresh ground pepper and Season Salt

1 -2 boxes Kraft Mac and Cheese

1 3oz pkg of cream cheese

    1/2 yellow onion

    olive oil

While the Mac and Cheese is making, cut the onion into thin rings and sautee in olive oil. As it becomes tender and translucent, move to the side and brown the pork chops, but don't cook all the way thru. Add the cream cheese to the Mac and Cheese and place in a casserole dish. Place the chops on top of the Mac and Cheese and divide the onions over the tops of the chops. Cover and bake for approximately 40 minutes in a 350 degree oven. You might want to consider a green salad with this dish, or another favorite green vegetable.

Same answer I gave to a guy who wanted to cook for his wife.

How about tortellini with sage brown butter sauce, bruschetta, and salad?

At the store, pick up some fresh ravioli or tortellini, some fresh sage, and basil (produce section), some baby salad greens, a loaf of Italian bread, sun dried tomato and garlic/olive paste (Greek olive bar), fresh garlic cloves, real butter, a nice tort or cake for a desert and some good wine...

Cook the pasta as instructed on package

Add 1/2 butter to frying pan and 'fry' till it starts to turn brown and smell nutty. Add some shredded sage, and fry sage till wilted. This is the sauce for your pasta. If it's too 'thick' add some water from the pasta. Toss the pasta in the brown butter sauce, and top with fresh sage.

For the bread, slice the bread, and lightly brush them with oil. Stick them in the oven for a few minutes to toast them. Then rub the garlic clove over them to give them a hint of garlic flavor. Top them with the tomato garlic/olive mix, drizzle them with olive oil, and put a fresh basil leaf on each slice.

Throw together a quick salad, and you're golden.

I know it sounds like it's a lot of work, but you can get this all done in the amount of time it takes to cook the pasta

When I want to help out my mom, I always make chicken fingers.

There are gazillions of recipes everywhere, and they always turn out really good.

I usually use the recipe on the back on the Bisquick box.

Then I just make whatever else I want.

    Bread, green beans, dessert, whatever.

    Pesto Chicken Florentine

    2 tablespoons olive oil

    2 cloves garlic, finely chopped

4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves - cut into strips

    2 cups fresh spinach leaves

1 (4.5 ounce) package dry Alfredo sauce mix

    2 tablespoons pesto

1 (8 ounce) package dry penne pasta

    1 tablespoon grated Romano cheese

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add garlic, saute for 1 minute; then add chicken and cook for 7 to 8 minutes on each side. When chicken is close to being cooked through (no longer pink inside), add spinach and saute all together for 3 to 4 minutes.

Meanwhile, prepare Alfredo sauce according to package directions. When finished, stir in 2 tablespoons pesto; set aside.

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook pasta for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Rinse under cold water and drain.

Add chicken/spinach mixture to pasta, then stir in pesto/Alfredo sauce. Mix well, top with cheese and serve.

    Italian Bread Salad

    1 clove garlic

1 (1 pound) loaf Italian bread

    1 cup chopped tomatoes

1 cup cucumber - peeled, seeded and chopped

    1 cup chopped red onion

    1 clove garlic, minced

    2 cups chopped fresh basil

    1/8 cup chopped fresh thyme

    1/4 cup olive oil

    2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

Rub a peeled clove of garlic around a wooden salad bowl.

Pull apart or chop the bread into bite-size pieces.

In the prepared salad bowl, combine the bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, red onions, garlic, basil and thyme. Add enough olive oil and vinegar to lightly coat, toss and serve.

    Italian Creme Layer Cake

    1 cup buttermilk

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    2 cups white sugar

    1/2 cup butter

    1/2 cup vegetable oil

    1/2 cup shortening

    4 egg yolks

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    4 egg whites

    2 cups all-purpose flour

1 (3.5 ounce) package flaked coconut

    1 cup chopped pecans

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

    1/2 cup margarine, softened

    4 cups confectioners' sugar

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease three 9 inch, round cake pans. Combine soda and buttermilk, and let stand a few minutes.

In a large bowl, cream sugar, 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup oil and shortening. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix buttermilk mixture alternately with flour into creamed mixture. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla.

In a large glass or metal mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold 1/3 of the whites into the batter, then quickly fold in remaining whites until no streaks remain. Gently stir in 1 cup pecans and coconut.

Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool.

To make the Cream Cheese Frosting: Beat together cream cheese, 1/2 cup butter or margarine, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and confectioners' sugar. Stir in 1 cup chopped pecans. Frost and fill cooled cake with cream cheese frosting.
