A credit score is an indication of how one handles responsibility so some employers may consider it.

Yes it is true. If you are working for a bank or in finance, how you handle your own money is an indicator of responsibility and honesty.

If you are working in government or in a facility that requires confidentiality of private and public documents, the same holds true.

They are looking for responsibility, trustworthiness and consistency.

If you have anything on your credit report that you are concerned about, check www.ftc.gov and learn about how to get your annual free report and how to correct any problems on it.

most employers will do a background check on you upon offering you a position. this also includes a credit check.

    it's standard.

It's a very sick and unfair practice and you should shun such companies. The insurance mafia also does that, sometimes and those insurance companies should be avoided, as well.

Credit has NOTHING to do with the job at hand. Refuse to allow it to be checked.

it depends what the job entails; a lot of gov. jobs prob wouldn't hire because of bad credit because you might sell some of their confidential papers etc...
