we've had another batch of rabbits, some of these are albino, can albino rabbits breed?
neither parent were albino, but we had one albino from the first crop, and think there are two in this one, though it is too early to be sure, is it safe to leave the albino's un-neutered??

if they are from the same litter, i wouldn't breed them.
and you rabbits aren't 'albino' they are ruby-eyed white rabbits, it is 2 different genes. the albino trait in rabbits is leathal, they don't live.
the REW (ruby-eyed white) color is what breeders call a masking color, meaning that while it appears to be a REW genetically it could be any color. for instance, this is hard to understand, but bear with me- if you breed 2 black rabbits together, you might end up with 3 black kits and 1 REW kit, while the physical appearance of the REW kit is that it is in fact a REW, it might genetically be a black.
i believe the only other masking gene known to rabbits is the BEW gene, or Blue eyed white.

Yes they can breed. It is no more dangerous to leave them un-neutered than any other rabbit. The albino characteristics are part of a recessive gene. Even breeding 2 albino rabbits will not guarantee albino offspring, though it will increase the chances.

Two albino (red-eyed white) rabbits will always produce 100% albino offspring [cc x cc = cc]. Albinism in rabbits is not a special or limiting trait. In fact, Florida Whites are a breed that is only recognized in the color REW.

A professor is sent to a village Africa to live with a local tribe. He spends years with them, teaching them reading, writing, math and science.
One day the wife of the tribe's chief gives birth to a white child. The tribe is shocked, and the chief pulls the professor aside and says
"Look here! You're the only white man we've ever seen and this woman gives birth to a white child. It doesn't take a genius to figure out what happened!"
The professor replied, "No, Chief. You're mistaken. What you have here is a natural occurrence, what we in the scientific world call an albino!
Look at that field over there. All of the sheep are white except for one black one. Nature does this on occasion."
The chief was silent for a moment, then said, "Tell you what. You don't say anything more about that sheep and I won't say anything more about that white child."

If you are seriously asking this questions you shouldn't be breeding rabbits. Thanks for adding to this problem.
