Why and since when has R+B changed its definition?

It used to be Chuck Berry, the Stones etc, but now it seems to refer to housey divas...

I thought I was the only one who cared! Thank Heaven there are more out there like me- but I'm afraid I can't help too much, just that I believe it all kicked off with the arrival of the 1980s

R+B stopped referring to Rhythm and Blues a long time ago.

Proper R+B disappeared not long after the Blues Brothers was released.

This modern music that is called R+B is pop trash, and don't start me on 'swing' or even 'house'...

when the music style changes to the point of being unrecognisable they should have the decency to find a new name for the genre.

RnB as I know it is the greatest music about, no disrepect but who are the stones and chuck berry? This may sound like the question from a teen but I am in my thirties and genuinly haven't heard of them!

Young for my age or missing out.....?

Absolutely correct. The definition R+B has been hijacked by various moaning Bimbos and tartlets, devoid of any instrumental ability, and repeatedly pushing themselves into the camera. Not the Pretty Things that I call R+B.

The definiton has no changed however music has. Many music styles are "Rhythm and Blues" literally as they have strong rhythms and emotive lyrics and vocals akin or roots exist in Soul and Blues music. Also, most of what people call "R&B" today is not that. It is Urban contemporary aka Urban. Thanks.

yeah i know what you mean, i prefer the early stuff, modern r n b all sounds the same and is usually some black bird shaking her booty.
