I've got the bowls on TV & i'm wandering why they spray the bowls with a liquid now & again ?

Cant see the purpose really ????

    If the bowl touches the jack, that's the little white ball they are trying to get the closest to, then they spray on a white marker to identify that bowl. This means that the bowl or bowls with the white mark is live even if it is knocked back into the ditch i.e. it still remains in play while any other bowls knocked back into the ditch do not. Therefore, if the jack is knocked back towards the ditch and one of the live bowls is closest to it when all bowls have been bowled, it wins. Hope that makes sense.

    the one that is sprayed is a touching ball and can be counted as a scoring ball if it's been hit off the playing area.
