For amusement parks I am assuming you mean a place with a lot of rides not a zoo type of place. It depends on how far you want to go.
In San Diego there is Belmont Park in Mission Beach it has a Wooden Roller coaster and a few other small rides.
There is also Legoland in Carlsbad.
There is also a place called Boomers not really an amusement park but has Miniture golf and some kiddie rides/lazer tag. There are a couple of these one is in Clairmont and the other is in El Cajon about 20 minutes east of San Diego.
About an hour north is Orange County and they have Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm.

There's Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, and Legoland...those are closest to San Diego area.
If you drive about 2 hours (give or take) north, there's Disneyland, California Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, L.A. Zoo, etc. And if you drive a bit further to Valencia, you'll find Six Flags Magic Mountain.

No way, the amusment parks out west stink. for a good amusment park you need to fly to northern ohio. Go to cedar point in sandusky ohio. those coasters will scare the pants off you. Make shure you ride the millenium force.
