If john takes 3 hours to paint a house and peter 5 hours to paint the same house, how long will they take to paint the same the house if they do it together?

1 hour and a half OR 2 hours simple as that. The only difference is that john does most of the work while peter is on the same area for a while.

In 2 hours John would finish the 2/3 of the house while Peter would have finish only the 1/3. So you have to pay John more money than Peter, exept if Peter is your uncle so you have to pay him the same money because he may be upset... ;o]

If john is able to complete it in 3 hours then it will be finished in 3 hours because that lazy, slow @ss Peter is slower and in the way.

If they do it together, it will take only 3 hours. Let the quickest person do it while the other kick back and watch.
