    According to the link below...

"Definition: Seeding is the system used to separate the top players in a draw so that they will not meet in the early rounds of a tournament. The top seed is the player the tournament committee deems the strongest player in the field. She and the second seed are placed at opposite ends of the draw so that, if they both keep winning, they will meet in the final round. The number of seeds is based on the size of the draw."

seeded players are the current best players, who have the highest atp rank. depending on how big the tournament is, they take the top ranked players that enter the tournament and seed them. Seeded players don't have to go through qualifying rounds, they automatically make it.

unseeded players are the players that enter and make it into the tournament, but are not ranked high enough to be seeded. before the tournament, they have qualifying rounds between the players that enter themselves in the tournament, and the ones that win all of their qualifying matches become unseeded players.

if you look at the australian open, in the top 8, there was only one unseeded player left, who was robby ginepri. that means that at the start of the tournament, his current ranking was not top 34 in the world (34 because 34 total players were seeded, and one for each ranking position).

The seedings are designed to make sure that the best players have the best chance of making it further through he competition. The seedings are given to top ranked players and they are split across the traw, meaning that they do not play each other in th earlier rounds

that was decided during the council of trent. many cardinals and bishops argued over this, it was a month long symposium. The countryside was sorely taxed, taking care of the personal needs of these great men. Several were executed in the process but in the end, nodding came to mean "yes" and the side to side motion came to mean "no". The extent of conviction was indicated by the vigorousness of the movement. If someone asked you if you wanted cream in your coffee, and you did, you were supposed to bob your head up and down rapidly, even VIOLENTLY at least eight times.
