What is a good type of plant for an office environment with artificial light?

I have bright light but no windows. I would prefer something that stays small and isn't too fussy, but all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I have had good luck with Philodendron, Spider Plants and Wandering Jew.

And I once worked with a woman who had a veritable greenhouse of African Violets under ordinary florescent lights. We worked in a large library and she had 40 or 50 plants on our floor.

I have had really good luck with pothos. They are a green and white-leaved plant, and they tend to send out shoots that can get rather long. Of course, you can always cut these off and have a nice compact plant. They do very well with fluorescent light.

Ive had good luck with "mother-in-laws" tongue or Sansevierias plants. They are hardy plants that require little maintenance and survive with little to no direct light also they can thrive with little water. They grow straight up so if you are looking for plants that require up room these are them.

Source(s): I have 5 pots of these in my home and have been growing them for years.
