What would make a 2000 Saturn automatic slam into reverse?

other than lack of transmission fluid?

Update:

It doesn't seem like a bad mount. It initially isn't in gear for the first few seconds, then it leaps into reverse.

    vacuum modulator has a problem may be a leaking vacuum line

    If you mean that the car jerks when putting it into reverse then you may have a bad engine or tranny mount.
