Eagles kill wolves - how?

While on a visit to China a few weeks ago, I saw part of a TV program about a tribe (Chinese or Mongolian looking) that lived in the mountains. They would hunt on donkeys and have a eagle on their arm. When they spotted a wolf in the distance, they would dispatch the eagle. The eagle would land on the wolf's head and they rolled together on the ground. The next scene was of a dead wolf. Could the eagle have killed the wolf? (sounds unlikely) or maybe they just blinded it making it easy for the hunters to kill?

The eagle could definetely blind the wolf if it was stealthy enough that the wolf doesn't see it coming. Ever seen one up close in real life? I come from a part of the US where we have one of the biggest Bald Eagle reserve in the US and you see them all the time. Once I was driving down the road and came upon three of them lurched over a deer carcass in the middle of the road. As I came to a stop infront of them they spead their wings and took off. I don't think I've ever seen anything as impressive in person.

I have never heard of such a thing, and think it unlikely that a full grown wolf could be defeated by an eagle.

An eagles talons are very strong indeed and I suppose if it could get a grip on the skull of a wolf could kill it, however this is unlikely as a wolf is far larger and stronger than an eagle and it's jaws not to be underestimated are very powerfull as well.

It is more likely that an eagle could carry off a wolf puppy that has wandered from it's den in the absensce the mother.

It is possible that an Eagle could kill a wolf. Eagles are huge and have sharp talons. It would be a close fight though, and sometimes the wolf would kill the eagle.
