Does Nash and the Suns even play defense?
Shouldn't the MVP be talented on the defensive end of the ball as well? Where's Nash's defense?
Man 1, your comment is a great point. It's the main reason Nash and the Suns will never get to the Finals, let alone win them.
No defense=going how early

Look at how many charges he takes...Nash's major contribution on defense is through them. Other than that, he will never be respected as a major force on defense. The MVP isn't chosen based on defense or offense, but rather his entire contribution to his team. If you ask me, his style (much like the Showtime Lakers and Magic) is the future of the NBA. That alone is why he should be MVP again.
If the MVP was determined because of the balance between offense and defense together, Shawn Marion should get the nod.

The Suns never play defense. Their purpose is to run, run and run some more. Honestly, Mike D's rule of basketball was to get his team to be more of a running team. Honestly it makes for exciting basketball but how many NBA titles can u with it? 2005-06 season they won 62 games and no ring. In 2004-05 they won 54 and no ring. I've watched enough basketball to know the regular season doesn't mean as much as some think it does. The regular season is about bragging rights and gaining home-court advantage. Didn't we learn anything from the Heat last year?
Steve Nash's defense is not his top attribute. But becasue he is so darn fast he often can get in front of you for a charge or gets into the passing lanes for a steal.

True. Every year you can give the MVP to guys like Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, J Kidd and Shaq (I just added him back on because how bad Miami is without him). Nash to be honest gets a lot of votes because he is a very entertaining, good, WHITE player. That is just the bottom line.
He is good but I saw the Jet give him the business in the Dallas series last year. If Kobe had him as an assignment he would lock him down.

I think MVP should have to do with every stat other than fouls. But now a days its strictly offensive because no one plays defense anymore and when they do they are not properly rewarded. Think about it how many players in the league have a nick name based on their defensive skills or even get commended for it. Its sad.

I agree that the MVP should be talented on both ends of the ball, and I also don't see a lot of D out of Nash, just speed.

the suns have good bench, good starting 5, they can win easily, be a 4-5 seed without nash, if you take Kobe away from the Lakers, or Shaq away from the heat, both teams probably would be lucky to make the 8th seed, obviously shaq isnt making a big season with his injury, but Kobe is passing the ball, making points, playing defence, running the offence for that team, if you ask me who should be MVP, its a easy answer.

You don't have to play defense when you can score 125 points a game.

they dont have to play defense when they take the 3rd most shots in the league and are the highest scoring team in the league.

maybe they can get away with a sub-par defense since they run, run, run and put up over 110 pts per game. however, as the saying goes, defense wins championships................
