Can i go to a community college to take core classes before heading to university for pre pharm classes?

I want to major in pharmacy. I was wondering if I could go to a community college for two years and take and finish all my core classes, and later transfer to another college to take the pre pharm classes?

My guidance counsellor says we can't go to a community college and then transfer into a pharmacy school.

You're not going to be able to go from a community college and then transfer to a pharm school.

To only do 2 years of undergrad, you have to be admitted to a special program that lets you do this. Only full universities that have an undergrad and pharm school program do this, and they take kids straight out of high school (and rarely, from their undergrad).

However, if your community college offers the required courses pharm schools want, you can take them there before transferring on to a 4 yr university.

However, I don't believe anyone has a pharmacy major out there. Something similar, but not a pharmacy or pre-pharmacy major (might have a pre-pharm program, but you're not going to get a BS in Pre-Pharm when you graduate). Plus, you may find it difficult getting your community college units to transfer over into that.

Engineering is unlike most other degrees in that you have to start Engineering in the first year, not leave it until after you've completed 'General Ed". It is difficult to get into Engineering as a transfer unless you complete an officially articulated program in Community College. Very few students can successfully transition from a dopey Community College atmosphere to a high pressure Engineering College atmosphere. You are probably better off going for Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering Technology rather than Aerospace Engineering.

As long as you make sure your records will transfer from the comm college to a university or pharmacy school.

Yes, you can do that, but most of the prePharm courses are freshman/sophomore courses. It is very hard for a community college student to be immediately accepted into pharmacy.

Yes, you definitely can. Many people choose this route as it is more convenient and sometimes less expensive. What you have to do is talk to an advisor and communicate what goal your want to reach. They will tell you what courses to take which will transfer to your upper degree program.
