My shoulder pops and hurts, whole arm goes numb and tingles, any ideas?
Let me start by saying that I am a 40 yr old man, played softball for 15 years (outfield) had to quit due to arm strength dropped and have coached little league baseball for 13 years, so you could say that I have used my arm for throwing alot! I am a fairly healthy guy, 5-9 160 lbs. I work in a field that I use my arms alot also.
It doesn't hurt 24/7 but has seem to hurt more lately. I would rate the pain a 3-5 on a 10 point scale.
Whenever I rotate my arm either up/down or around, it pops and grinds. My whole arm will go numb for 10-15 minutes at a time, and it also seems to make my inside elbow hurt, and wrist also.
Is this something that can be fixed, or do I just need to be put out to pasture?
No, I haven't been to the doctor lately about it.
Yes, I am planning on going to the doctor, but am trying to come up with the co-pay for my insurance 3500 and trying to figure out when to miss 2-6 weeks of work. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same kind of concerns and what happened to them.... I fix cars for a living, not people....

You probably should see a doctor about it and see what options you have. I would stop using it until you get it looked at, by ignoring it will only cause more problems and you may injure it further. Perhaps your rotator cup is severely damaged from over use.

I would go to the Doctor and see what he says. I had trouble with my shoulder to the point I could hardly lift my arm and I had to have spurs removed from my shoulder. Later I'm not sure how long it was but then I started having trouble again on the same side and I had to have spurs removed from my collarbone. But Heart attacks can also have pain in the arm. I have Multiple Sclerosis and any part of my body can go numb at any time, and I never know how if will last a year or what, so you should go to the Doctor just to be on the safe side, hope this helps. And why not?
Why, in fact, would you think that anyone can help you if they don't have medical training and haven't taken your history and examined you, and that's just for a start?
Start with your family doctor.

It may be your back is out of whack. Try a Chiropractor. He can also tell you (if he can't help )[f you need to see a medical doctor.

Could be a partially dislocated shoulder?
Source(s): I am a chiropractic patient. Been there, done that (not with softball, with a file which resisted being pulled from the file room). My chiropractor popped the ball-and-socket joint right back into place. An M.D. could refer you to physical therapy. They can do some amazing things in physical therapy, too. - 1 decade ago
