Major UK retailers selling Playboy fashion to pre-teens?

What does the Playboy logo mean to you? To WHSmith, it means one of the most popular range of stationery ever sold - FOR CHILDREN.

I used to work for a certain girls' accessories company as a Store Manager. Our target customers were aged 7-15 years. They introduced Playboy stuff - jewellery, folders, hairties, bunny ears, purses, you name it - and told us we had to sell it to 10 year olds. I left in disgust.

These ranges are everywhere now, from Boots to Argos.

Do you approve of this?

Update:

Yes, I'm serious, and as I said already, I left a good job because I was sickened by this.

Update 3:

From the article: "I like the brand because it's posh," explains 14-year-old Tatiana. "It makes you feel like you're worth something." When I ask her if she knows what the bunny logo means, she giggles and says, "It's porn innit? But people don't think it's porn. They think it looks nice."

Update 4:

thecoldvoice - learn some manners and grow up.

Yes the bunny is cute, but that is part of the problem. KIDS SHOULDNT BE ABLE TO BUY PORN DISGUISED AS CUTENESS.

Well, the girls in schools in Australia like to wear short shorts, which is really digusting because you can practically see their bum cheeks hanging out, and it's even more feral if they're fat. And most of them are. Also the non crazy short short girls at my school are very anti-necklaces on boys, in particular the neon pink, yellow, or green seashell-tied-to-a-bit-of-string necklace. Do they think they're cool? Actually there are many more trends I wish would go away...straight hair for one...it's unbelievebly overdone here in Australia! I swear 9 out of every 10 teenagers like to straighten their hair every morning. And what's worse is when the girls buy the hair extensions (not necessarily in their proper hair colour either, again with the fluro!) and leave the top part of their hair not straight. So you see helmet hair at the top which becomes straight and/or fluro at the bottom. Gross!

The Playboy "junior" line is a bit dodgy, but do you really think the children invloved even know what Playboy is? Anyway, I blame the shops/parents.

well i guess to most people and including myself find the symbol cute, and look at the girls who are playboy models they are very pretty, but i think its wrong to let little kids have things like that but its the parents fault and if they dont like it they will take it away and if not then thats there problem. have a good day hope i helped :]

I know, I went to Smiths and saw the Playboy stationary right next to Winnie The Pooh and brats. Vile.

Unfortunately, it is prefectly legal and the retailers say its just a bit of fun.

There is nothing wrong with Playboy or erotica for older teenagers...

    The bunny is cute.

Playboy treat staff and models very well.

And its right for socirty to have open attiudes to all this

    But not for kids...

The 14/15 year olds no problem as dating ...

But 7 year dont even have something to put in a playboy bra.

Make kids aware of porn as part of adult life and not immoral... but grow up kids first before you go for sexaul clothes

ya i feel the same in argos theres lots of playboy things to decorate bedrooms with aimed at young girls. surely parents should have more sense than to buy this stuff but obviously not as it sells really well.

    nah it's totally wrong!!

it just goes to show that everything nowaydays is about profit!

sex is being sold to children, and then everyone wonders why the uk have one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates in europe!!!

playboy stationery, jordan and jodie marsh as role models... society's gone mad...

No this is bad! Playboy reminds me of slappers. Whenever my aunty sees something she like, she checks wether it's by Playboy or not, if it is by them she won't buy it because she just hates Playboy. It's full of dirty, naked women! It's just cheap for any age to wear clothes by them!

ugh! who would do such a thing! shouldn't young girls be more educated when they grow up instead of being nothing but looks and slutty! thats a big NO!
