What are your thoughts on the 'Worlds Fastest Indian" Would you have been able to meet Burt’s challenges?

I met Bert At Bonneville in 1969, my first year there. I saw and talked to him several times in the next few years. From what I have heard of the movie, (I have not, and will not see it), it can not really do the man justice. He was quite a guy, the effort he put into building the bike, and the work to get it here to the meet, and the yearly rebuild would deter most from such an effort, and he was not well off in any way, except with determination and skill. To go as fast as he did, with such a bike is testament to his mechanical ability and drive. I have several good tales to tell about Burt, but this is not the place.

I am 53 years and the fastest I have been is 128 mph on a motorcycle. I have the movie on DVD Wide screen and have watched it several times. I find this as one of the most inspirational movies I have ever seen! When I was 5 years old my dad gave me a ride one the tank of a Indian Scout he also owned a Indian Chief.

The movie was entertaining, you could not help but like the guy. If you know anything about motorcycles you will be amazed that that machine could go as fast as it did and not get him killed.

I only saw the movie recently and it was the best I've seen in a lot of years. Bert is now one of my heroes. In better times, he was the kind of man that appeared in stories about American ingenuity and perseverance.

"AWESOME"...I had an Indian "80", three speed, suicide clutch and had it up to 140, but not even close to his speed...
