Breastfeeding and weight loss?

My daughter is over 10 months old and has been breastfed exclusively (no formula). I feel like there is some extra weight hanging around, and I have heard that your body keeps some stores of fat while you are breastfeeding, just in case. I know breastfeeding helps you lose weight initially after birth, but does anyone have any experience of losing additional weight after they stop breastfeeding? I am not looking for a reason to stop breastfeeding, just some hope that the extra weight is there for a reason.

Once I stopped breastfeeding my weightloss came to a screaming halt. I have been dieting and excercising, but I have only lost 1 pound in the last month. Before I weaned, I was losing at least 1-2 a week!

Weightwatchers has a program for nursing mothers - maybe you just need to change your diet and excercise habits to get the last of the weight off.

breastfeeding now and again aids in weight-loss, yet no longer for all people. it ultimately help lose a tremendous variety of weight interior the first 4-6 weeks, yet some women human beings warfare dropping the finest 10 lbs or so even as breastfeeding. you should maintain in ideas, it took you 9 months to positioned on all that weight, do not anticipate to lose all of it right away. Your body is recuperating from being pregnant, and putting a tremendous variety of work into feeding a baby. supply it time, and luxuriate in being a mommy!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

The extra weight is there for a reason, as long as it is not an overabundance of weight. As you know you must eat healthy in order to keep you milk supply up however eating healthy does not mean over eating. Watch your intake and make adjustments as needed. When you stop nursing you may be inclined to gain some weight also as the body distributes the food else where. It depends on your body makeup, some women loose and others gain. Good food and exercise help.Good luck.

I breast feed my daughter exculsively (no formula or any thing else) until she was about 11 month. My experience is that my stomach tightened up and I sweated all the time going from 175 down to about 140 and when I stopped it keep coming off without excersizing but I did had to stay active and I was with taking care of my baby. hope that helps
