Who is the man on "Lost" with the patch on his eye?

When my bf and I first say the preview for that episode, we both swore it was an alien. Then we saw the episode and realized it wasn't. I think he's part of the Dharma Initiative. He obviously knew they were watching him on the television, so he knows that hatch well enough. I find it hard to believe he's another random person on the island. There are too many groups: the survivers, the others, the people in the tail of the plane, Desmond and the other guy in the hatch, the french chick. I don't think he's going to be the begining of another set of people.

i'm not too sure either, but we're sure to find out. if you remember in Season II, in one of the episodes about the "Tailees" they, too, come across a hatch on the island. they don't elaborate on it much, and it hasn't come up since, but while they are there they find a chest with a Bible in it (that Eko takes and later gives to John, because it's got the missing part of the Dharma film in it). Also in that chest is a glass eye!! It falls out on the ground and rolls around. This guy's definitely Dharma...maybe he'll be like a Rouseau character who just exists on the island independent of the others, the monster, and the survivors...
