The royal artilery is corps formed from various regiments of artillery one being the Royal Garrison Artillery was one of the three major parts into which the artillery was divided into in 1890 and exisited before that but I cant give a definate date.

It is the "Royal Garrison Artillery."
The Royal Artillery was divided into 3 groups.The Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery comprised 1 group while the coastal defence,mountain siege,and heavy batteries were split off into another group named the Royal Garrison Artillery.The 3rd group continued to be titled simply Royal Artillery and was responsible for ammunition storage and supply.
Which section a gunner belonged to was indicated by collar badges(RA, RFA, RHA, or RGA.)
The RFA and RHA also dressed as mounted men whereas the RGA dressed like foot soldiers.

Royal Garrison Artillery is the only Army acronym that I can find. But I can only find references for World War I, and not as for back as 1855. Hope this helps though...
