separation-the couple chose a "time out" between the two of them only.

Legal-separation- the couple actually file a motion to the court for a legal document stating they are taking a break from the marriage but not ending it.

Divorce- Legal documentation ENDing the marriage.

A divorce is very final and you're loose to marry others. All sources is split at that element. situations for separate maintenance, alimony and baby help are legally binding. A criminal separation is the preamble for a divorce. The couple isn't residing at the same time, yet helps room for the couple to reunite. till the divorce is processed, below a criminal separation you're actually not loose to marry returned till a divorce is finalized. merely as lots artwork is going right into a criminal separation, yet a criminal separation would not sever the relationship thoroughly.

    Cal,

I don't know the difference, but, I know, when I was 15 years old, my Parents decided on a "Legal Separation" and that's what they did. From what I gathered, since my Dad , then was in the Navy, in a Divorce my Mom had said she would lose the Military "benefits", so they agreed on the "Legal Sep." You need to look into the subject with an Atty.

Source(s): mine--- from what I was told.

Separation is when two married people decide to separate for a while to work out their problems. Legal separation is when you go through an attorney, and divorce is when you have been legally separated for a year, sign papers and are no longer married.
