How to transfer data from xp to windows vista?

I just got my new Gateway computer and I need transfer data from one to another.

    Vista will do it. they have special transfer cables you use. they sell the cable everywhere they sell Vista.

    Uh if your Harddrive is partitioned dont worry, just make sure no importaint files are in C, cause that will be written over

    unless im not sure.. but vista may not touch any files other then windows xp ones, so you might be fine.

    if you want to be sure get sum cd's or dvd's and copy your info to there..

    If they're on the same network just use the file and settings transer wizard. Start | Programs | Accessories | Choose files and settings transfer wizard and follow the instructions.

    Buy a crossover cable and hook the systems up with it.

    Then you can move data across the cable.
