Does anyone know if someone still makes canned steamer clams?
Many years ago, a local grocery store used to carry a large can (maybe 40 oz or so) of steamer clams. These were whole clams, shell and all. My family would open the top of the can, and set it in a simmering pot of water until heated through.
I haven't seen this product in years and wanted to know if anyone has seen it, and what store carries it. I cannot remember the brand name, but it was a light blue label, and like I mentioned, it was a very large can.
Any ideas?

I've never seen this product and I'm a huge seafood lover. I have to get raw clams in the shell at the seafood section of the grocers... since they MUST be cooked alive I don't see how they could be 'canned' ???

I was born in 1966 and grew up in Brooklyn and Queens, and my family often bought canned steamers. I wish the product still existed. I also have been lamenting this loss.

Years ago it was a company called SS Pierce. I have been looking for over 20 years now, I am going to start looking again as it has been a long time since I did.

Did you live in a seaside town? Maybe it was a local company. I've never seen such a product myself.
