Please tell me how to maximize the download performance of uTorrent 1.5?

I am using an ADSL 2Mbps connection with a D-Link DSL-302T modem with an ethernet port. It says the network IP os 192.168.1.1

It recommends to use a proxy server with port 8080 and no server address. It was faster when I was using an ADSL modem with USB connection. But there's no way I can use that old modem due to wiring weekenesses.

Don't use a proxy server, you don't have one and thats whats slowing it down if u are using one. Also, make sure your ports are forwarded on your router, w/e port it says, to your IP. The network IP is probably your router.

most of the times the reason why torrents are slow is because of ISP's locking ports and stuff. but try changing ports, should be faster
