Sam Querry, the 18 year old American, He seems to be doing well, off to a good 2007, moved into top 100 today.
What kind of game does he play? What are his weapons? Does he have what it takes to move in the top 20? Big serve? Big forehand , does he Volley well? Move well? If you have seen him play can you tell me a bit about him? Can he hang with Rodick next round ? Thanks in advance for your input, I have not seen him play yet, just read a few articles about him. All of us iving in the United States should write Direct TV to get the tennis channel on the Sattelite, I mean Christ , if we can watch bass fishing all day how about putting the tennis channel on. It is not like the USTA can not finance that for a while until it starts turning a bit of a profit. I would love to see some of the other tourneys, that are on every week all over the world , plus watch other Davis Cup matches besides the US. On an unrelated note, the Byron Brothers are one of the best doubles teams I have seen in a long time , agree, disagree?

I haven't seen Querry play yet this year, but he is definitely moving in the right direction with his results. Like the majority of pro players, his game relies on a big serve and a big forehand. But he has the distinct advantage of being 6' 6". Like most of the big guys, that height makes good things happen at the net. His volleys are actually pretty good. Nice and deep- he had Nadal scrambling last year. His problem is getting to the net. Movement is his liability right now, although a smart game plan could mitigate that weakness.
I don't see him being able to stand up to Roddick. This tournament at least. Roddick's playing too well, and Querrey's not going to be able to pound the ball past him. That said, barring injury, I see no reason why he (Querrey) won't end up in the top 40 this year. With another great Slam performance, like Australia, maybe top 20. He has the right tools to get there, but then again so have many other big on talent, short on results players.
And at the risk of this turning into WAY too long an answer, let me echo your sentiments on tennis on T.V. The fact that there is a tennis channel is awesome, but the fact that no one can watch it sucks! I've called and emailed my service providor, but no response yet. My biggest concern is that the Tennis Channel will continue to get coverage rights to more and more tennis tournaments, taking it off of ESPN completely (and leaving me with nothing).

I saw him play a little in this year's Australian Open against Tommy Robredo. He actually wn a set against Robredo (a top 10 player) in a tiebreak. He seems rather inconsistent but he is young and jus like Marcos Baghdatis he needs to develop. You will hear from him in 3-5 years.
