Bruise on lower lips after wisdom tooth extraction?
I just got two of my wisdom teeth (upper and lower right) removed a month ago. I notice that my lower lips, especially on the corner of the lips still have a bruise, like a tiny scar from the surgery. I don't think the dentist slit open my lips or anything like that because the surgery was done on a dental chair. A few days after the extraction my lower lip started to feel as if i had an ulcer (the pain and the look of the scar was really similar), my dentist told me it was because my lips were really dry and advised me to apply vaseline jelly. The pain completely went away two weeks after the surgery, but whenever I see myself in the mirror close up i could still see a tiny scar left on my lower lip. Will the scar eventually fade away?
My friend just told me she had a similar scar (which is still there till now after years ago), that was because the dentist was really rough when doing the extraction. I'm afraid that i'll be left with a permanent scar.

A wisdom tooth extraction can be very difficult especially if they are impacted (deep under the gum line embedded into the jaw bone). They are also located very far back in the mouth. Although, it does sound like the doctor may have been a little rough with you, they are sometimes very difficult to get out. Bruising, sometimes in unexpected places anywhere on your face is normal with wisdom teeth removal. Keep Vaseline on the area until you have healed, and if you have a scar consult with a dermatologist about using Mederma skin cream.
