image editing software?

I'm looking for an afordable image editing software. It has to have good photo manipulation capabilites but I don't need something as extreme as photoshop cs2. Do you know software of that type that costs less than 100 bucks or where to find a ligitamate site that has discounted software?

all freeware, some more beginner friendly than others.

This one looks a likely candidate:

    and of course there's Irfanview:

    which does it all....

GIMP is always an option. It has a steeper learning curve than photoshop, but is free, and has a comparable feature set.

I consider SteveMel above. For a loose programme, Picasa2 is massive. some outstanding consequences on there and really elementary to apply, so it is going to save the pastime there. sturdy success..........
