Does anyone have a recipe or know where I can get one for a hearty bread bowl?

(The kind you cut the top off and put the stew into?)

    Hearty Stout Bread Bowl

    1/4 cup buttermilk

    1/4 cup sugar

    2 cups all-purpose flour

    1 cup stone-ground rye flour

    1/2 teaspoon baking soda

    1 teaspoon baking powder

    1/2 teaspoon salt

    1/2 teaspoon caraway seeds

12 ounces dark heavy-bodied stout beer (Guiness works well)

    cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Put the buttermilk in a small bowl and whisk in the sugar until dissolved.

    Set aside.

Combine the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl and form a well in the center.

Pour in the buttermilk mixture and the stout.

Stir with a wooden spoon just until blended.

Spray a 9 1/2” loaf pan once lightly with cooking spray and distrube the oil evenly over the surface of the pan.

    Pour in the batter.

Bake for 40- 45 minutes, until the loaf begins to separate from the edges of the pan and a tester inserted into the center comes out clean

Source(s): you can either make this as a loaf bread... or reshape it to make the bowl.
