Pageant Tips/Help?

I'm entering a pageant, the first I have ever done, and I'd like to know some of what to expect and what I need to work on before July.

Also, what style of formal dress would be most appropriate?

Any suggestion at all will be highly appreciated!

I'm going to assume National American Miss(aka NAM aka NAmiss). I'm doing it this year. It's in June/July.

Here are some tips to get ready:

    Keep up with current events

    Workout

    Practice interviewing

    Practice talent

Practice stance and walking in heels

    Practice personal introduction, speeches, etc

    Fill out your resume

    Make sure pictures are ready

Make sure all your payments are made

    Make sure outfits are ready

Make sure you have all your accessories: shoes, jewelry, purse, makeup, etc.

You can also hire a pageant coach.

I entered in a small town pageant, worked my butt off, and captured the crown.

    Here's How I Practiced:

    1) Work on your talent at least 6 months before the pageant.

2)Get a lot of pageant questions off the Internet and have your parents or a friend ask them to you.

    A) Never use um, it sounds horrible!!!

    B) Repeat the question, so if the question is How do you feel in the war in Iraq, respond with something like My opinion on the war in Iraq is....... this gives you time to think about the question and it makes you sound more formal.

3)Work on your walk, intro, and any other things you may have to do in the shoes you will be doing them in, and on a surface similar to the stage you will be performing on.

As for what kind of dress..... I would say something you feel comfortable in, not too much cleavage or high slits.

Hope this helps and good luck on capturing the crown!!
