Why did Tim Haraway go off the deep end?
Tim Hardaway was being honest during a radio interview when he gave his opinion on gays, going so far as to say that he "hated" gay people. I don't condone homosexuality and I know this is the U.S.A and people are entitled to their opinions, but how much different is it for someone to say what he said, or if someone said I hate Irish people, or I hate black people, or I hate people with big noses. Hate is still hate.

Hate is still hate, and I was shocked and disappointed at hearing his remarks.Especially considering that Hardaway was originally from Chicago, which is where I live,I am ashamed to admit he is from here now.I used to think he seemed like a good guy,now I wonder who else out there I like harbors the same hatred for another group of human being just for being differant.I would think that he would be more sensitive to a minority group, seeing he is African-American.Its just so sad.

you're right... hate is still hate and that's why there's this big outrage for his comments. if he said his opinion without using the word hate, he wouldnt be taking so much flack for it. it would be no different if someone said they hated any group of people because hate is too much of a strong word to use against anybody.

I don't agree with Tim or believe he is somewhat courageos for speaking his mind...But something good will come out of this ... Communication, sharing of information..learning and growing as person as a country as a planet. This is how we will grow to become better people. Hate/prejudice towards a human bieng/group is a disease that kills this process. And when your not growing as a person..well that means your dead. Theres good people and bad people that's it, anything else doesn't matter.
Without communication, sharing of information and growing we all would still be wondering how to start fire.Or we would be extinct.
Talking is easy...doesn't take courage to talk......
Yes, he is entitled to his opinion, free speech etc.it's the first step of sharing information. From this hopefully we will learn and grow

I'm willing to bet the guy just didn't get how bigoted and nasty he sounded. If you changed the word 'black' or 'jew' for 'gay' when he was talking, you'd swear he was a neo-nazi or a klan member.
Face it, just because you're rich and famous, doesn't mean you're any less ignorant than the rest of us poor folk!
