Why do African Americans feel they deserve handouts? People come here from countries all over the world and?

Good lord... what are you talking about???? Have you ever actually heard an "African American" saying they deserve handouts? I seriously doubt it.

I have a great job, a nice car, a nice home... and all of it I worked for. Nothing has been handed to me. None of the black people I associate with or even in my family get any type of hand outs from anywhere. Keep your racist generalizations to yourself.

First you cant get free handouts if you are Illegal. They can apply for only a few things like W.I.C., food stamps, medicaid for only the children they give birth to here in the United States. Only 15% of the Illegal population with American Born Children go threw those systems. 15% are Whites and other, 70% are African American. Majority of Illegals are the ones who cant get anything and don't try. If you say why do they feel that they "deserve" free handouts from the American Government.... you need to be thinking about another race here. Even if they have fake information it gets run into a system and comes back not real or not theirs. Learn the system first before you start saying this and that about people you don't know nothing about okay!

I imagine you're not even asking this out of true malice, but pure ignorance. You're probably also stressed and angry, and looking for someone to blame. i'm not a shrink, i wouldn't know.

but suffice to say, not all blacks feel as though they deserve handouts. most blacks feel as though they deserve respect. and it appears that respect from you and others like you cannot actually be earned, as the hard work of an entire group, and the various posts including my own assuring you that blacks are not like you imagine will just go over your head.

I am going to tell you something,(I hope you read this) because I am absolutely fed up with people like you trying make stupid sweeping statements and comments about African Americans and also West Indians. I feel that African Americans and also West Indians deserve to treated with respect and given opportunities, just like you have. If you don't like it, then why don't you go back to your own country, since you are an immigrant too. America does not belong to you. African Americans and also West Indians also not only deserve opportunity, but compensation for slavery too, as they helped built western society, but received very little back and you TALK ABOUT RESPECT. Please don't try to be a piss artist!

Also in relation to the three African guys you work with, I would say to them, thank their lucky stars, that African Americans and West Indians fought for civil rights during the 1960's or they would not be able to even come to America to work, because there would not be any foundations for them to come and establish themselves in America. Also if the African American people are so bad, then why have they chosen to come to America, why don't they go somewhere like Europe then, I am sure they may be better off, instead of living off the rights of what African Americans have campaigned for .

You have got a bloody cheek, after all the racist crimes and atrocities you people have committed, to be s*** stirring about African Americans, you are not perfect, you are not superior and you have one hell of a murderous dirty history. So before critizing others, look in your own back yard, because I am sure you find s*** all over the place (not to mention you probably like the smell). It's true African Americans don't deserve handouts, they deserve applause and COMPENSATION and respect in having to deal with people like you who don't really deserve to be on this planet, let alone live in country such as America.

I don't think it is fair or nice to judge a group of people as a whole in this manner. I can think of no greater shame than for ANY PERSON, red, blue, pink, black, white or purple, to refuse to take initiative to better their lives and to have the expectation that they are entitled to others handing them what they are physically capable of earning themselves. That said, there is a big difference between a handout and a hand-up. Many people just have a difficult time overcoming tough circumstances no matter how hard they try. Many poor people detest the way that they live, but they lack the means or tools to overcome their poverty and to rise above it. Poverty comes in ALL races. Whatever race you see in the poorer areas of a city will vary from city to city. Giving someone a helping hand when it is needed can give a person just the boost they need to stand on their own two feet. It's when a person who is perfectly capable of walking on their own comes to depend upon this hand-up that it becomes a handout and a way of life for them. This sense of "entitlement" however, is not limited to any race of people - it is found in individuals with character issues. P.S. - I am white.

I am quite sure you never heard any black person say they wanted something for free just because their ancestors were slaves. You probably never met any black people in the first place. Let me just drop some unbiased facts and school you and your fellow racists:

However, African Americans are disproportionately represented on public assistance because they are only 12 percent of the population (O'Hare, Pollard, Mann, & Kent, 1991). -The Census Bureau's most recent annual poverty report found that urban black mothers constitute less than one out of six of all poor households. Rural white families account for more--one out of five. White surburban families account for even more--one out of four. (Ouch!)

-12 % of the federal budget is devoted to welfare for the middle class and wealthy in the form of tax credits, no interest mortgages, home investment incentives (Needless to say the majority of that middle class is white lol). (Throw in the towel lol).

You really need to hit the library because clearly white people are receiving more "Handouts" than any other race in this country.

Furthermore, you stated that "Respect is earned not given," well that's so true, but white people have exploited black people for 400 years; you mean to tell me we haven't earned our respect yet lol? NOW, realize that blacks couldnot get all this w/o the government. AND know not all blacks take the hand outs. BUT yes, the welfare systems keeps ALL poor people down. Look at England...and they're white...so its not a race thing.

As for Africa...come on...600 years of tyranny and 60 of freedom...ofcourse its a mess. Most countries becoming independant are. AND most African countries have been bled dry by Europe...not an apology...A FACT...why they just didn't leave us singing in the bush happy as clams I'll never know.

And NO I wont go back to Africa...I've never BEEN THERE...I did go to the Bahamas though...much more diverse attitudes.

Where are your statistics that say that African Americans feel as if we deserve handouts? Answer me on that one. I for one, want to work for my car, house and to provide for my children when I have them. Right now I'm a student getting my education in college.

Most of us want EQUAL TREATMENT, which may White people may confuse with wanting something for nothing. Although we have problems, mwerost of us are not looking for freebies from The Man.I work 64 hours per week and I wouldn't ask a White person for enough sh*t to make my breathe stink. I have a question...why is it that Whites rag on Blacks regarding welfare, but never say anything about farm subsidies for Whites (which, in essence, pay farmers not to work)?
