What are the highlights of the Lorraine region of France?

Planning a first trip to Europe (as a couple) and need to plan a short visit with a relative in the Lorraine region. What are the features of the area that we should plan to see or events we should plan to attend? Trip will be in June. Are there things that make the region worthy of an extra couple of days stay?

    The Cuisine

The region’s best known dish is, of course, Quiche Lorraine. Originally, it was exclusive to Lorraine; made from ham, cheese, cream and eggs. Today, it is an international favorite.

Like all giant nations in the middle ages. France was greedy. Invading territories of Spain, Italy, all of Normandy, All of Bretony, all of Burgundy, parts of Germany, and the southern netherlands (underneath belgium). They took part of my homeland when they invaded the GERMAN nations of Lothringen... soon after they took it's neighbor Elsass. In the times before Rome this land was old German and the celts took it. the Romans took it from them and then they fought the Germans again. Anyone who claims it belongs to France has a dull vision of History. Clearly it is a part of the historical German states. Prussia's quest was to unify all of these under one banner. they never succeeded. Many German states had fallen in the past long before the HRE. and France had invaded Burgundy since the late 1400s. Elsass-Lothringen was all of Elsass's land and a good bit under a third of Lothringen. The state Lorraine or properly Lothringen is the majority of it. France has owned these two since the 1630s then they lost it when Prussia's quest took it. They got it back after ww1 lost it in ww2 (even under the Nazi's not all German lands were under one banner though that was their goal but they were also on a racist quest). They have had it since after ww2. many of the natives were slaughtered in the 1640s-up until the 1800s but in a minor way by that point. Many were displaced, or they moved but we feel a connection to our home those people can't. Similar to the Native Americans love of their lands. Some of us stayed and the french have crammed Sh** down our thoughts trying to ruin our culture. Elsass Lothringen should be part of Germany or atleast independent as a German state. One day it will be free... France wanted it due to their purification and fixing of the local culture. Kaiser built many German things to show our return. But France was on the"winning" side of ww1 and it's never been the same. TY for your time
