what the heck is wrong with my mitsubishi mirage?
it's a 91 model 4-doors. heres the thing. when i plug in the connection on the tranny for my overdrive, it dies when i put it in drive. but when i dissconnect the plug it will go in drive, reverse, but it will die when i shift it into 1st. i've already taken it to a mechanic here in this small town but they don't know what is wrong with the dang thing. plz help me out.

Sounds like you may have a problem with an internal pressure switch that locks up the torque converter for better gas mileage. The switch may not be working or has a short in it and as soon as you plug in the wiring and put it in 1st gear the switch locks up the torque converter thus stalling the engine. Don't know if you have this switch or not on this vehicle but had one go out on my car and it was frustrating as it would kill the engine. Ask a transmission shop to check for this possibility.

your chip in your ignition key is dead or you replaced it with an aftermarket key that doesn't have a chip.
