How to get the mouse pointer moving or pointing?

I just got my lab top back from repairshop. I turned on the lab top and found out that the pointer does not move, so I cannot point to the icons. How to activate the pointer under this condition?

Can you give some more info, such as make & model, and age? If it's a relatively new laptop (couple of years old) and it has a touchpad, make sure there is no on/off button for the touchpad. If your laptop has such a button, it is usually located at the top of the touchpad nearest the Space bar. Have you tried attaching a mouse?

That sounds like a problem with the mouse built in, Try plugging in a Third party mouse into a port(usb / ps2) or you can use that TAB key to get around with the accompaniment of the Enter key when youve found something you selected.

Also, there is an accessibility option in windows that allows you to use the arrow keys as a mouse.

if you can not touch the screen with your finger to select things you need to take it back to the repair shop--if you can select by touching then hit start-control panel- and then look for the mouse hit it- and it will tell you if it has been disabled or if it needs to be re installed.
