Einstein's theory of general relativity states that if you travel at speeds approaching the speed of light, time dilation will occur. In short, if you left earth travelling at, say, half the speed of light for a couple of years and then turned around and came home, you would find that the time that has elapsed on earth would be far greater than the time that you have personally experienced. You would, in effect, have travelled into the future.
This effect has been observed to a small degree by the use of atomic clocks on space craft. Their counterparts on earth record a measurably different time to the ones sent into space, although they were synchronised before the launch of the space craft.

Oh gosh, you are asking for a book. In my opinion time is a circle with spots in which universe is created and destroyed. I really wish I could put diagrams up. Anyway, if we ever find a way to time travel, I believe we can only travel to the opposite corresponding spot on the circle. For example, you are right before the universe is destroyed, then you time travel to right after the universe is created. This isn't just my theory. This has been adopted my many scientists. Can't remember the name of it but try researching it on the Internet.

Okay first off i need to explain something. We live in a dimensional world. But people thing we might live in 13 or 14 dimensional world. By the way the 4th dimension is time. And the the 5th dimension is gravity. So wehave all of these so we have to above 5. So since 4th is time time-travel is possible, but we dont have the right maerials at the right cirumstances. There is one way. You know black hole right. There is a point of singularity in it. So if you go into it, everything around you would go faster, if you live in it. So if you live in it and pass through it, you would find yourself in a place where it is rusted all over, since you could'nt do any work. We right now have our world like this since we maintain it. But since you are blinded you won't do any work and the things would go to a waste. Oh there is also another theory. If you know about the big bang then you might understand. Well you you go further away from the point where it is created you find something futuristic but you might not see humans. You could also use huge amounts of electricity and you have to use plutonium in large amounts and fuse them and you have to go near the where there is huge bolts of electricity and you have to shock yourself. If you live through it then you might go into future. These are all theories.
Hope this helps you.

I don't think that time travel is possible. If it were. then the universe would allow effect without cause and cause to come after effect. An example of this would be this answer appearing for you to read before you ask the question or even without any trace of the question ever appearing.

I think if time travel were possible, we would have been visited by someone from the future by now.

Steven hawking produced a book and he explained that we are already travelling in time, go get that.

it is only possible to travel forward in time. the only way it would be possible to travel back would be like in Quantum Leap, where Sam's consciousness traded places with the consciousness of the person he inhabitted.

theoretically Einstein believed it was possible through worm holes or some such annomaly

Only in one direction.

if you could would you want to, as far as the future is concerned just let it happen, as for the past it's to late it's gone
