How do you get a fussy puppy to eat?

put a little soft food with it and don't worry he'll eat when hungry

yeah, offer the food at set times twice a the day and after a certain amount of time pull the food away. i would offer first thing in the morning when you wake up, let the food stay there for 30 to 45 minutes then pull the food away whether he has eaten or not. come back at 5 or 6 PM and do the same thing. especially while you are getting him use to the idea of eating what you offer, never feed the dog in the interim periods.

the dog will soon realize this is the offering and it is up to him to eat. eventually, his stomach will take over, he will be hungry and he will eat b/c he has self preservation instincts.

keep this regiment up, as closely as you can possibly follow it and always pull the food away within 30 to 45 minutes. this also shows the dog the food comes from you and a stronger bound with you will be formed as well.

I'd start with a visit to the vet. Maybe he is sick and needs some medical care. My experience has been that dogs will usually eat rice and liver you cook for them. Just cook the liver, cut it up real tiny, and then add enough water for the rice and cook until the rice is done. I've done this for a new kitten we have, and he really like it. I make a big batch, freeze a day's portion in a freezer bag, and then I only have to do it once a week or so.

Good Luck, you don't want to let this go. When they are tiny can become dehydrated quickly and die.

Perhaps his appetite is diminishing due to a possible digestive tract problem - hence the gas problems. There are some foods that are easier to digest and seek your vet's opinion on this. Otherwise, if he's just a picky eater, try putting the juice/oil from canned tuna on his food.

Try a little boiled chicken ground in the food processor or try a little canned chicken broth (no salt added) drizzled over his food. If he has a history of hypoglycemia, you may need to dissolve a little honey or corn syrup in his water.

get a new dog, damn yorkies so picky. It's not a problem dude. Will eat when hungry. Right now you need to learn what type of foods go better for pup.

I would mix a little Gerber baby rice cereal with a little milk and mix it together with his food. My little puppy is a bit picky too so I mix it in during lunch and she slops it right up. Good luck:)

Add boiled hamburger. Helps with the gas, and makes the food more palatable.

use treets 2 get him 2 eat! all ya gotta do is put treets undr a little bit of food in his dish, and he'll eat sum dog food in the process of getting his treet. yur welcum. hope it wrks! wrks on my dog evry time! =P
