How should a business keep its passwords secure - password software?

I recently read an article that suggested that the best method of keeping passwords secure is to save them on a word document, and have a password on that document.

I know that I can download free password software - but that sounds like inviting a internet predator onto my computer & handing him the instructions.

Can anyone recomend a reasonably priced commercial software?

Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on methods for keeping passwords secure?

I've used KeePass for a year or so now and it works great. It uses 256 bit AES encryption to store your passwords. Also you can create different folders(work, bills etc). I highly recommend it.

different than for the technical themes, i might recommend you dedicate some time to forming a corporation community secure practices & Use coverage. i've got seen numerous 'hand-crafted' & sub-widely used 'professional' networks that had no coverage &/or equipment configuration to lock down the community to circumvent information "leakage", or secure practices, or administration stages of get right of entry to; workers departure techniques; Administrative administration hierarchy; etc. with out good commencing place, many open ended themes improve that require protracted strategies which devour up useful time and components, to no longer point out the secure practices lapse from surprising workers variations. try your ultimate to maintain a good rein on those potential pitfalls from the initiating, and combine coverage with hardware configurations to fulfill those objectives... case in point, having workers create passwords isn't a reliable theory. In a surprising (and in line with hazard damaging) departure, there'll possibly no longer be a potential to get better that PW. PW introduction must be dealt with by potential of the longest tenure-envisioned guy or woman and senior government, using a pre-assembled table that's saved in a vault and a replica with the attorney. Then there is administration, with substitute limited to a choose few. different matters desire scrutiny for corporation-extensive protocols besides.
