India is running after steel industries. OK. BUT why we are not giving same force for Alluminium Industries?
India's reserve of ore for Alluminium production is huge. Our own Hon'ble President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam has already given a direction towards this. We need to encourage big Corporate bodies to set up more and more Alluminium Plants and NALCO, HINDALCO may be expanded in a big way to make India the largest producer of Alluminium. Why our Govt. is not thinking about it?

Agree, but we need to look at two important aspects for aluminum sector:
1. Aluminum production is highly electrical energy intensive, which makes it a major bottleneck for an electrical energy starved and energy expensive country like India.
2. Environmental liabilities of aluminum production, e.g. red mud disposal and spent-pot lining disposal are major issues.

India means who? India Inc. or Indian Government? Governments policy, these days, is not go into running manufacturing units. On its own, as you have indicated, they have already invested, heavily, on Aluminum (NALCO). Already, they are running into lot of problems, in dis-investing them. The India Inc.(private sectors) motive is profit, they will run after the one which gives more gains.
By having, biggest producer's name, one does not achieve anything concrete. You have to be prudent. The Aluminum is Electricity Energy intensive. Most of the states in India are lagging behind in Electricity generation.
Just because you have Aluminum Deposits, you can not just go after it.
