Have you ever heard a more bitter sweet poem than this?

The following poem was written by a dying man on his death bed after three days of hanging on. His wife laid down beside him and as he felt her fall off to sleep, he picked up a note book and wrote these lines to her. Wow, how poignant, how sweet, how absolutely moving. Do you have this kind of love for your spouse?

Softly As I Leave You

Softly

I will leave you Softly

For my heart would break

If you should wake

And see me go

So I leave you

Softly

Long before you miss me

Long before your arms can beg me stay

For one more hour

For one more day

After all the years

I can't bare the tears

To fall So softly,

so softly

I will leave you

I will leave you there

Update:

No it was not Elvis but he did do a voice over with it sung in the back ground

I don't know if that's true but it's a beautiful song that has been sung by Elvis and Frank Sinatra.

could desire to assert i do take exhilaration in works of literature yet you choose a good editor because of the fact this would not carry something from the 1st line, sorry. save going however as long as you take exhilaration in it that's what writing is approximately.

Suicide note? How could he be on the brink of death if he could write all that?
