Can I take precalculus in 9th grade?
I am in 8th grade at a Fairfax County Middle School and am currently in Geometry Honors. However, I would like to skip Algebra 2 and take Precalculus in 9th grade. Is this possible? What do I need to do?

Well you will proably have to get your parents involved, but they should just look at your grades, and also maybe there is a test that shows that you are beyond Algebra 2, and can handle Precalculus, i would not be surprized if you could handle more. They really need to let you advance , and not hold you back, and now adays, more and more schools are trying to do that. So i really do not see why you could not just take Precalculus and skip Algebra 2, if you are ready for it.

I dont think you can skip Algebra 2. But you can do Precalculus if you took Algebra 2 in summer though. If that is possible.

probably what you can do is take summer school at an equivalent level high school and take algebra 2. then when you come back to your school for the regular school year, either you get credit for it or you can test out of algebra 2 and then go straight into precalculus. it's best to check with your advisors or dean or something about it first though.

Where I go know. Im in 8th and im taking Math which is the highest level of math an 8th grader can take. I can take pre calc in 11th grade, but im not sure, I bet if you took the rest of math a and math b all in your first year of high school, you could take it in 10th

Talk to your teacher let them know that you really think you can pass, take a test or something that he/she offers to you or you can take an ALgebra class over the summer.

usually they don't let you do that unless you are already taking algebra 2 classes in your 8th grade class

you probably can. but you have to take a test on alg 2 for them to see that you know all about it. but to convince them to let you take the test you have to write a very convincing letter with lots of half-truths
thats what i did for my friend and they let her tke the test and told her she had to get a B+. butof corse she failed
