WHERE IS THE BEST AREA TO LIVE IN GLASGOW (nowhere rough ps! PREFERABLY city centre..)?
I have heard the west end is nice. But when I search for a place to live they just list a number of places and I would not know which one is nice to live...I would like somewhere I could also walk to/fro town. Its got to be a safe enough area/street.

it depends what your budget is and what you are looking for, if you are renting or buying..... In the West End, you want to stick to Byres Rd, Hillhead and Partick. Scotsoun, Anniesland Jordanhill are all slightly further out as is Knightswood, though they aren't dodgy areas. The dodgiest bits are in the East End, I would recommend going no further into the East End than Alexandra Parade - all get a bit too far away there anyway. If you want to buy and make money, southside is good, particularly around Cessnock, Kinning Park, though Ibrox gets a bit rougher, especially during football season..... Also in the osuthside, you can go to Shawlands or Cathcart, slightly further away from the city centre, but they have wee communities of their own now and are all developing. In the city centre, the whol eof the river is being developed so there are a lot of nice new builds to rent or buy in Tradeston, and on the waterfront. Glasgow isn't that dangerous a city if you just look after yourself - don't noise anyone up and they won't do it to you. It's a good idea to avoid the football picthes though - so avoid Ibrox and Parkhead, other than that, there are a few good options in West End, South side and city centre. Southside is an up and coming version of the west end - in 5 years or so it is likely to be as sought after as the West End, especially since the BBC has moved over to the riverfront.

I live in the Gorbals, 10 minutes walk from the southern end of the city centre (St Enochs, Merchant City, Argylle St etc). The Gorbals gets a bad press, based many on its historical reputation but I've lived there for two years and found it to be friendly and safe. The area itself is well lit, busy and has plenty of parking. I regularly walk to and from the city centre after dark and have never encountered any problems.

Byres Road and Dumbarton Road in the west end is great, its near hillhead, kelvinhall and partick underground, it has loads of pubs, restaurants and great shops esp vintage and second hand and it's close to kelvingrove art museum, universities and the western infirmary hospital. You can easily walk, get a bus or the underground to the city centre in mins and the no 9 bus which goes thru partick and city centre is on 24 hrs.

Depends on your budget !
Loads of new places by the riverside in city centre, but fairly expensive. There are loads of places just off city centre to the East - merchant city ?
The west end is predominantly old tenemented property and may not suit your taste and is a bit far to walk.
Security / safety wise, the city centre / riverside would be my first choice.

There's an internet newspaper called craigslist.
put a post on there stating what you're looking for.
Here's the Glasgow link:

Kelvinside, Hyndland and the area around the university sound like the areas you`re after, but can be expensive.

I was tempted to tell you that if you didn't want anywhere rough then you shouldn't move to Glasgow, but on reflection I realized that I don't know your circumstances, perhaps you've no choice. If you want to lessen, while by no means completely eliminating, your chances of being victim to astoundingly senseless and pointless violence, you could try the streets than run off Byres Road in the west end. They are inhabited by a great many students and immigrants and, from the point of view of safety, are probably your best bet?

Are you speaking of Glasgow, Missouri. In that case its a sleeping little town on the Bank of the Missouri River and you should be safe and comfortable most anywhere there. However I think your meaning somewhere in Eastern Europe.
