Don't know if that's true but it probably is as we seem to have a never ending supply of money to fight wars, shame we can't use some of this money to put our country in order

Britain did not take part in the Vietnam war, thankfully the government had the sense to stay out of it. ( In any case we were not so paranoid about communists as were the Americans). Prior to the US. the French fought there, but even they had the sense to get out when they knew they could not possibly win. I doubt that we financed it in anyway. At that time in our history we were still crippled financially from the second world war, we had the National debt still owing to the US, we had no money to finance anything. Mind you, that is not to say, that it would have been quite conceivable that we under-took some "un-official" little jobs there on behalf of the US, perhaps they gave us a few dollars discount from the national debt, for favours received. Nothing would surprise me about the politics of the 1960`s early 1970`s.

yes we did play an important part, we let the yanks get on with it..and then we made films at pinetree studios...

we didnt go to nam, tim page a photographer from wiltshire went, and became quite famous, but that was for getting wounded...

page is allegedly the mad photographer played by dennis hopper in apocalypse now...

also read mentioned in dispatches, by michael herrer, or chickenhawk by bob mason...

They dug the speakers into the Vietnamese countryside so that the soldiers could listen to Hendrix and The Doors while on patrol.
