Am I the only one who takes what the media states with a grain of salt?

It seems to me there are many people swayed by media. Yet the media tends to be very biased. Example: NBC and CBS very pro-democrat where as FOX is very pro-Republican. Yet they report very differently about the same topics. Am I the only one who thinks the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I'm just frustrated. Thanks

No, I feel the exact same way. Unfortunately in our faced past technological society, people no longer take the time to research & form objective opinions. I often engage my friends & family on current events, this helps my frustration, & if I can sway their opinion, that's a bonus. I also write editorials for my local newspaper (although when published they edit them pretty good)

Best advise, hang in there, continue to have a strong mind & opinion, & someday you may change things, remember, your not the only one who sees things the way they should be.

That doesn't mean the truth is in the middle.

    It can also be "outside".

My basic rule in life is:

    EVERYONE HAS AN AGENDA.

To ignore this can be dangerous.

It doesn't mean everyone is "out to get us", or even has negative alterior motives, and I don't believe in conspiracy theories (real life is too complex).

It just means that everyone really has their own good in sight in everything they think or do, whether they realize it or not.

Also, there's a certain culture at every organization, workplace, etc., and the media is no expeption to this.

If you work at any particular place, you quickly learn what is, and is not OK as far as opinion goes, and to keep your job, will morph to at least appear to be "a team player".

This goes from the top to the bottom of every organization.

    GRAIN of salt?

No, I have a whole salt lick by my TV.

I am with you...the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Watch both and form an opinion based on logic, not feeling.

you are correct, the people who think the media is one way or the other are just using talking points. the best way is to read things from other countries, that seems to be the best way to get the truth.

No you are not alone at all. You are part of a growing community of folks who are getting pretty fed up with the Media all together.

I don't even listen to them anymore. I got tired of it when I watched to see who was sponsoring the news programs. I listen and get my news from alternative radio or PBS. I share your frustration.

Not me! I am with you. I don't trust these liar media whores. We NEVER get an UNBIASED report.

It sometimes makes me want to study journalism and see the truth for myself.

I prefer my media in a sports bar with a shot of tequila, a wedge of lime and salt over my left shoulder.
