any tips for writing a character analysis paper?

Start broad and then get more specific. I don't like to start out saying "female, 6'0" tall, brown hair..." I'd prefer to start with something like.

A strong-willed woman that has fought her whole life to gain respect in a male environment.

Then zero in on the specific character features that will define this person in your book. Don't forget some quirky characteristics that set this person off from the rest of the characters in your story.

The most important thing about a character is motivation. What does he want? What will she do to get what she wants? How does she respond to obstacles? How does what he wants affect his relationships with other characters.
