java and applet issues, i need a professional opinion!!!!?

java is installed, but applet is not working, how do you install applet so java can function. java will not fully function without applet

    Did you install the JRE (Java Runtime Environment)? If so, you can try it on a web page that already has an applet. You can also use a program that comes with JDK (download from sun.com) called AppletViewer.exe which you can use to display an applet locally without a browser.
